Opening Reception: Saturday, July 13, 2013
6:00-9:00 p.m.
ARTicles Art Gallery
1445 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg
ARTicles Art Gallery is pleased to present Summer Salt, on July 13, 2013 at 6:00 pm. Artist Emily Barnes explores the human form in water, inspired by the reflections and optic transformations that occur in and around aquatic environments.
She uses the rich pigments of oil paint to achieve the high levels of contrast and saturation, translating the brightness of sand, heat of the sun, and luster of water onto canvas.
Influenced heavily by a life of loving the water, her main sources of inspiration are the ocean, the pool, her close friends and family. The heat, energy, vibrant colors, and exaggerated movement are consistent . Her work exemplifies a keen sense of natural observation, and an inquisitive eye for subtleties.
Emily Barnes, born and raised in Alabama, has spent much of her time enjoying the scenery of the Gulf of Mexico. Emily recently received her B.F.A. from Auburn University and currently resides in Fairhope, Alabama.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on July 13, 6-9 pm. The exhibition will be on view until August 6, 2013. For more information, contact the gallery at 727-898-6061.
