Venture Compound Casts a Spell With Stone Circles Ritual Art Show
June 8th, 8pm
The line between art and magic is malleable, tentative, and temporary. We draw signs to call down spirits and to create them. We inscribe letters that form myths and dogma and canon and fiction. We chant invocations and sing hymns that turn into folk songs and then pop.
The Venture Compound has always been a place of magic and new creation. Of otherness. Of gateways to unknown worlds, mindstates, prayers. Now we invoke the gods of creation and hex and invite our friends who travel the realms of spirit to join us. We fill our gallery with altars and maybe they will work and fill us with something else. We paint third eyes in foreheads and punch holes through the sky.
For the June 8thopening of Stone Circles, the latest in The Venture Compound’s parade of showcases for emerging and outsider artists, we will feature live witchcraft rituals, art subversion initiatives, and music from Venture Compound favorites (TBA). Specifically, we are calling on members of local alternative religious communities to join us in a ritual to call for the positive resolution of our fire code inspection process, which risks shutting down Venture for good!
The Venture Compound: 2621 Fairfield Avenue South
The event will be preceded at 6pm by a reception for Venture Compound members. Memberships are $100 and currently available online at our fundraiser page:
