I am loving the weather this summer. The late afternoon storms have been magnificently ominous, with near-black skies, lightning and thunder to match and more. I love walking around an incoming storm. No chasing required, they come right to you like hungry (rabid, sabertooth) kittens. This weekend things -perk up.

(Ongoing)...Flora and Fauna @ eve N odd Gallery - This show is still open, and doubtlessly one of the best this weekend. Hugo Porcaro Folk Art and a truly rare and unique mail art show themed around Frank Zappa which should be pored over carefully, since mail artists of this caliber are never seen in this area outside Jennifer Kosharek's wonderful gallery. At 645 Central Ave. Hours normally run 10AM to 6 PM. I believe they may be open until 10 on Saturday.

Sorry We're Closed @ Saint Paint - For someone afraid of having to move, the smart ass title of this show pushes the issue closer to the edge. Join us on Saturday August 24th for the best (and possible final) exhibition yet at Saint Paint! We will be showcasing new work from your favorite downtown artists doing what they do best. This is in celebration of being open over a year at the bigger location (with hopes of many more)! We have had some local political issues that may result in us having to move, so this COULD be the very last show at the original Saint Paint. HOWEVER, we are doing everything we can to make sure this does not happen! So come out, buy some art and do your part in supporting your local creators! ALL DAY LONG! (Don't forget to check out BLUE LUCY'S event ART DEAL WITH IT same night!)
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS & CREATORS:
Dan Lasata
Cameron Cottrill
Scott Hillis
Reid Jenkins
Chad Mize
Zulu Painter
Laura Spencer
Chuck Majewski
Aurailieus Artist
Sheri Kendrick
Moy Loera
Jenipher Chandley
Derek Donnelly

Richard and Helen Minck were beloved local philanthropists who supported numerous local cultural organizations. Avid art enthusiasts, they left behind a stellar collection of artwork, including nationally-recognized and local artists, and the Morean is hosting a silent auction of these items to benefit our educational programs.
Over 130 pieces are available, including sculptures from Peter Voulkos, paintings by Robert Hodgell, and mixed media works by Rocky Bridges.
Wine and appetizers will be available, and the bidding starts promptly at 6pm. Ends @ 9:00 PM. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a piece from this unique estate!

Venture Compound: Free Film Fest - Unlike other SP film festivals, dripping with bogus pomp and no circumstance, this one has no pretense, and no red carpet. Today we'll be screening the films selected in our film Contest, launching August 4th. We're also accepting submissions for other films, preferably things under or around ten minutes, though we're certainly open to making exceptions! We're looking for your weirdest, most abstract, silly, unnerving, challenging, shoddy work. MAKE IT VENTURE! Opens Saturday, Aug 23rd @ 8:00 PM.
This event is being generously sponsored by entertainment lawyer Scott Orsini: http://attorneysusa.com/

Park in the parking lot next to the house. Leave the 4 spots closest to the house for bands so they dont have to travel to load in. If for any reason the parking lot becomes full, when parking on the street DO NOT block peoples driveways, mailboxes, or fire hydrants and park going the direction of the side of the street you are on.
