Are You Ready to Put Your Ruby Shoes On? (Yasmin Vorajee)

Can you think back to a time when you lacked confidence because you wanted to lead a big project but you felt overwhelmed? Think about the time when you had to present and all you wanted to do was hide. Think about the last time you really wanted to speak up in a meeting but felt you couldn't.

How did that feel? Did you feel powerful or powerless?

Wouldn't it be great if you could flick a switch and immediately feel confident so you can take on the world and do what you're here to do?

For me, standing in your power means you feel like that's exactly what you can do. I love the symbolism of the ruby shoes in the film The Wizard of Oz. They are a gorgeous representation of power, the rich color indicates confidence and the rubies indicate wealth. For me, they represent prosperity in all its glory. It turns out they are NOT just a pretty pair of shoes. They represent you in all your glory.

For a long time, I have been a passionate advocate for encouraging more women leaders to emerge. I believe there is a huge resource of untapped potential out there and I know that when this potential is tapped into, it will help our world be a better place and it will massively improve how we do business. Yet it seems we are still far far away from this realization.

Well, I'm on a mission to change this.

If you feel called to lead, then I want to help you answer that call!

The Ruby Shoes? concept is all about stepping into your power and being a force for good. It's about you deciding that you will take that next step - the step from being a 'manager' to a leader. When you put the ruby shoes on, you are deciding and committing to make your aspirations of being a leader in an organization come true.

You might be reading this and thinking "Yes, this is exactly what I want to do but I don't know how to". With that in mind, here are my top 3 tips to get started:

The first step is know that when you are a leader, you can be true to who you are - being a leader is not about trying to fit into a mold. It's about leadership that is authentic to you. So if you've ever felt like you didn't want to lead because you had to be someone you're not, know this is not true.
When you feel the call to lead, it is so important that you know who you are, what motivates you and how you get the best out of yourself and others. Leading means you have followers and when you stand in your power, you allow others to do the same. You can't do that without self-clarity.
Deciding to put the ruby shoes on is a commitment and a decision. It's about stepping up and saying "Yes, this is what I am meant to do". You don't have to tell the world you're putting the ruby shoes on...you will demonstrate it in everything you do.

So, my question to you today is "Are you ready to put your Ruby Shoes on?"

Blessings,
